Ford Figo Sports First Drive: A Sportier Package
The latest Figo variant gets lighter, with better headlamps but packs the same engine.
Ford Figo Sports and Aspire Sports edition were announced in the Indian market this week. Priced upwards of Rs 6.3 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Ford is giving you improved exteriors and better driving quality among others.
We took the Figo Sports Edition for a spin on the sprawling sand track in Little Rann of Kutch and here’s what we think about this new avatar of Figo.
New-Look Figo
Ford has added some minute touches to the Figo Sports that make it look better than the standard version.

Figo gets an all-black honeycomb grille with black headlamps and dual-tone exterior with either a black or white roof. It also features 15-inch black alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
The interior gets black door handles and black steering wheel bezel, which is leather-wrapped with red stitching.
Handles the Bumps, Nicely
When Ford claimed that the Figo Sports gets a retuned suspension, we couldn’t really vouch for it without driving the car.
But now that we have, the changes do make a world of difference to the overall driving experience. The Sports Edition weighs 20 kg less than the standard one, and the stiff suspension only adds to the comfort of the driver. Having said that, we still can’t sign-off the Figo Sports as a four-wheeler that’ll glide along on long journeys.
If it Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It
Ford has retained the same set of engines, which means that you get the same bhp and torque power from the Figo Sports Edition, and that is not a bad thing at all. The Figo in its new avatar is still quick off the block, and the 5-speed manual transmission is quick to respond to the shifts. Only if Ford could have come with an automatic variant as well.
Interiors Could be Better
The seats with red stitching are soft and comfortable, but what’s with the console on the dashboard, Ford? The Figo Sports costs more than Rs 6 lakh, surely they could have given us a better infotainment system. This also means we do not get a parking camera or sensor on this one.
