The Delhi government’s eco-friendly drive has gone to another level with first-of-its-kind two-wheeler vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

These two-wheelers will be provided as part of a pilot programme with the Kejriwal-led regime looking for various measures to keep a check on the pollution levels.

As highlighted by the ministry, the CNG kit comprises two CNG cylinders and each can be filled with 1 kg of the gas. In comparison to petrol, a CNG-powered two-wheeler will not only be eco-friendly, but pocket-friendly for daily commuters also.

In order to kickstart the initiative, the petroleum ministry has signed up with Dominos, who will be given 50 CNG two-wheelers. These vehicles will be monitored, and their results will be used to decide if moving two-wheelers to CNG in the foreseeable future is a realistic target.

This step could go a long way in reducing the number of polluting two-wheelers in the country, which is used by more people across the country. Could we really have a CNG-powered motorbike in the future? Well, nothing is impossible.
