Audi launched the petrol version of its second-generation mid-range SUV, the Q5 on Thursday, at a price of Rs 55.27 Lakhs. The launch comes about six months after Audi launched the diesel variant, the 35 TDI.

The new petrol variant, 45 TFSI uses the same 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine as the bigger Q7. The petrol Q5 produces about 250 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque from the 2-litre TFSI engine and can go from 0-100 kmph in 6.3 seconds. The top speed the petrol Q5 can touch is 237 Kmph.

The Q5 will go into direct competition with the Volvo XC60, the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The Volvo XC60, however, does not have a petrol variant on offer. Here is how it fares with the competition in terms of specifications:

At the launch of the Q5 petrol variant in Ahmedabad, Audi India head Rahil Ansari said that the Q5 petrol is part of Audi's strategy 2020 that involves introducing new body types as well as alternative powertrains. For 2020, Audi aims to sell 50 percent of its cars with petrol engines.

On the outside, the Q5 remains identical to the diesel variant. Whereas on the inside, there is a 12.3-inch TFT display for an instrument cluster. The car also houses an 8.3-inch infotainment system, which is mounted on the top of the dashboard. The system of course, supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
