Flashback: When Carrie Fisher Spoke of Love, Drugs and Depression

Carrie Fisher passed away at the age of 60 on Tuesday, after suffering a heart attack on a flight en route to LA.

Star Wars fans lost their beloved Princess and General on Tuesday.

Actor Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia, passed away at the age of 60. She was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack on a flight en route to Los Angeles from London last Saturday.

During an interview with TODAY’s Matt Lauer back in 2008, Fisher discussed her tongue-in-cheek and witty autobiography Wishful Drinking.

Opening with a quotation from the book - “If my life wasn't funny, it would just be true and that would be unacceptable”- Fisher explained how she tried to make the most difficult situations in her life “as funny as possible.”

Fisher, who made her debut in 1975 in Shampoo, also shared how she never wanted to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents.
