Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta Phogat Get Engaged
Both Bajrang and Sangeeta had communicated to their families earlier this month regarding their decision to marry.
Former world no. 1 wrestler, Bajrang Punia is all set to tie the knot with the youngest of the Phogat sisters and former national medalist in the 59-kg weight category, Sangeeta Phogat.
Sangeeta’s elder sister, a commonwealth gold medalist, Geeta Phogat was the first one to share the photos of the ceremony on her official twitter handle.
She wrote,“On this auspicious occasion of the Roka Ceremony, I would like to congratulate Bajrang Punia for becoming a member of the Phogat family. Congratulations and Blessings to the youngest Phogat sister, Sangeeta Phogat. May god bless you both.”
A roka ceremony was held at Bajrang’s house in Sonepat on Sunday, 24 November, where both the families met each other and gave their blessings to the young couple.
According to a report on Wrestling TV, the wedding ceremony is likely to take place after the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Both Bajrang and Sangeeta had communicated to their families earlier this month regarding their decision to marry.
Phogat family has another marriage scheduled coming week as Babita Phogat is scheduled to wed fellow wrestler Vivek Suhag on 1 December.
