With the 2019 World Cup just two weeks away, the Indian team has already started with their preparations for the marquee tournament. After being led by MS Dhoni in the previous two editions (2011 and 2015), Virat Kohli will be wearing the captain’s armband for this edition of the tournament in the United Kingdom.

Recently, former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes, decoded the difference between the leadership styles of Kohli and Dhoni.

He said whie Dhoni was a brilliant reader of the game who understood the mental aspect of captaincy, Kohli is someone who is always ready for a challenge and likes to take the game by the scruff of its neck.

“Dhoni’s example was of setting incredible standards on fitness and control mindset point of view. So there are different styles of leadership. Kohli’s style is to take things by the scruff of the neck and he likes to impose his stamp on the game,” Rhodes was quoted as saying by India Today.

Virat and Dhoni had very different results as captains with their respective franchisees in IPL 2019. While Dhoni took CSK to their eighth IPL final, Royal Challengers Bangalore, under Kohli, finished last in the points table.
