Nasty Bouncer From Archer Leaves Alex Carey With a Bleeding Chin

If Australia being reduced to 14/3 wasn’t enough, England’s Jofra Archer knocked off Alex Carey’s helmet leaving the batsman profusely bleeding to add on to the miseries of Australia in the second semi-final in Birmingham.

The incident took place in the eighth over. The Aussie wicket-keeper batsman took a blow on his chin, and he immediately signalled towards the dressing room.

A deadly short ball from Archer climbed onto Carey and he had no chance to react. He didn’t even have the time to duck. The ball hit him so hard that Carey had the helmet in his hand as his chin started bleeding.

The physio put a plaster on Alex Carey and did the necessary dressing as he returned to the crease.

Meanwhile, after winning the toss Australia decided to bat and lost both their openers as early as in the third over of the innings. Four overs later Peter Handscomb, who is replacing Usman Khawaja, was also sent back as Australia were in trouble at 14/3. For England, Woakes was again the wrecker-in-chief with two wickets while Archer got the wicket of Australian skipper Aaron Finch.
