It wasn’t the most pleasing weeked for Indian sport. Both the women’s and men’s cricket teams contrived to lose matches at home from comfortable positions, against England and Australia respectively, while none of the country’s star shuttlers could make it to the semi-finals at the All England Championships.
That isn’t to say there were no success stories emerging out of India in the world of sport, although the week’s biggest sporting headline, undoubtedly, came from Spain, where Real Madrid saw their reign as European champions cut short with a shocking loss.
