Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced a Rs 25 lakh reward for Sakshi Malik, who won the bronze medal in the freestyle wrestling (58 kg) event in the ongoing Rio Olympics.

He also announced that the state will ensure proper training for the next Olympics for gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who missed an Olympic medal by a whisker this time.

In his congratulatory message to Sakshi, the Chief Minister said she had created history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Olympic medal.

He also congratulated the Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu for her semifinal win.

Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to enter the final of the women’s singles event in badminton.
