‘ICC, Dhoni Both Right’: Sehwag Has a Solution for Gloves Row
Virender Sehwag is of the opinion that both parties – MS Dhoni and ICC – are right on their part.
Whether it was right for MS Dhoni to sport the para-regimental dagger logo on his wicketkeeping gloves or not, has been a topic of great discussion in the last couple of days.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) denied the former India captain permission to wear the dagger insignia on his wicket-keeping gloves during the World Cup despite BCCI's assertion that it was not a military symbol.
While some feel that there’s nothing wrong with Dhoni – who is an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army – sporting the symbol, others believe that rules by the international cricket body need to be followed.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag however, is of the opinion that both parties – MS Dhoni and ICC – are right on their part.
The veteran said that MS Dhoni could still sport the symbol, but only if he gave it to the ICC in writing and sported it on his bat, and not his gloves. The rule-book allows for only one sponsor's logo on the wicket-keeping gloves while the bat can have two including one of the manufacturer. In Dhoni's case, he already sports an SG logo on his gloves.
In a video titled ‘Virender Sehwag Views on Dhoni’s Balidaan badge controversy and an interesting Solution’ posted on his Youtube channel, the 40-year-old also gave the example of how he sported a symbol representing the Sehwag International School on his bat after taking permission from the ICC.

‘I respect the Army, MS as well, and you all do too,’ said Sehwag in the video and urged people to keep the 'Balidan' badge with them while the supporting the Men in Blue at the ICC World Cup.
‘When MS Dhoni plays India’s World Cup match against Australia, he could be Man of the Match because of all your prayers, he said, concluding the video.
