Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik’s last-minute flourish handed India a win in what seemed to be a nearly lost match in the Nidahas Trophy T20 Tri-Series final. Karthik (29 of 8 balls), who has made sporadic international appearances, produced a last-ball six as India pulled off an incredible chase beating Bangladesh by four wickets in Colombo on Sunday, 18 March.

While Karthik’s fans heaped praise on the cricketer, several veteran and former cricketers too lauded the 32-year-old’s performance.

Ravi Shastri, former Indian cricketer, coach and commentator, said: “No game is over, till the fat lady sings. DK, you beauty!”

Rested captain Virat Kohli too lauded the wicketkeeper-batsman’s performance in the big final, while complementing the team’s performance.

Sachin Tendulkar celebrated India’s big win and expressed his delight at Karthik’s last six.

Mohammad Kaif said that this was an innings to be remembered for a “long long time.”

Karthik’s last knock won him the praise of international cricketers as well.

New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan also called Sunday’s match “one of the best closing innings of all time.”

Fellow cricketer Yusuf Pathan too praised Karthik and the Indian team.

Karthik’s prowess on the field on Sunday’s match got him many more congratulatory messages from the likes of former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Rajeev Shukla, Suresh Raina, and more.

Commentator Harsha Bogle too praised the cricketer for his finishing knock.

Needing five off the final delivery, Karthik smashed Soumya Sarkar over extra-cover, reminding many of several nail-biting finishes that the Indian team has partaken in.

Karthik's cameo got him 29 off 8 balls with two boundaries and three sixes – the last of which won both him and the Indian cricket team the victory they were fighting so hard for.
