Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday, 23 October, took over as the 39th president of the BCCI, thus becoming the biggest name to head the Indian cricket board.

Ganguly was elected unopposed after he filed his nominations papers for the post of BCCI president in Mumbai on Monday, 14 October.

“It’s official - @SGanguly99 formally elected as the President of BCCI,” the BCCI posted on its Twitter page earlier in the day.

The stylish left-hand batsman has had a huge fan following since he made his debut in International cricket. And after announcements were made regarding him taking over the reins as the BCCI president, people have come out in huge numbers to congratulate him for his new innings.

Before heading the BCCI, Sourav was the president of Cricket Association of Bengal since 2015. His current stint at BCCI is for ten months and will expire on September 2020.

As Sourav prepared for his new innings in Indian cricket, his fans didn’t waste time and took to twitter to congratulate their Dada.
