Sourav Ganguly spearheaded the move that saw India take a historic step towards playing Day/Night Test cricket. A move he had been pushing for as head of the Technical Committee is something he could only execute after taking the mantle of the BCCI president.

Ganguly’s excitement ahead of this historic game translated into tweets on the eve of the Test.

The City of Joy turned pink to embrace the occasion. Ganguly shared a video of his hometown, which looked to be all set for the day with many high rises lit pink.

Ganguly wrote: "Well BCCI and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)... look forward to 5 days @JayShah."

This was just the start, as Ganguly then tweeted a sort of compilation of all the places in Kolkata that turned pink ahead of the Test. “Welcome to pink test ..⁦@JayShah@bcci” the tweet read.

The BCCI president then proceeded to tweet about sweet shops that are commemorating the historic Test and Bengali daily Pratidin that changed its colours to pink ahead of the match.

“Sweets go pink in kolkata ⁦@BCCI @JayShah @CabCricket

“Pratidin goes pink in kolkata”

“Well done felu..”

Hopefully, the hype matches the substance.

For now, it is great to see Ganguly get so excited by the way his hometown has responded to the Day/Night Test.
