Rafael Nadal married his long-term partner Xisca Perello in Majorca on Saturday, 19 October. The wedding took place at La Fortazela fortress, in the northern part of the island in Puerto Rico.

Many famous faces were in attendance during the wedding, including fellow tennis stars David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez. Nadal’s uncle Toni, and coaches Francis Roig and Carlos Moya were also present at the ceremony.

But one face missing was that of tennis legend Roger Federer. Both Federer and Nadal have become close friends over the previous years despite their well-known rivalry.

Federer, in an interview, revealed that he had not been invited to the wedding.

“I was not invited and I did not expect it,” Federer told Yahoo Sport on Sunday.

“That’s not a problem at all. I congratulated him on his wedding day and I did not expect him to reply.”

“I knew he had better things to do. Like celebrating in a big way. I am happy to see him and ask him how it went,” he added.

Federer admitted that he thought the reports of Nadal getting married doing the rounds in September were false.

“You should understand you cannot believe everything that appears on the reports. I do not know anything about it. And I have a plan for the weekend before the Basel tournament,” Federer said last month.
