Thirty five-year-old Indian boxer MC Mary Kom continued to create history after becoming the first Indian woman boxer to win a Commonwealth Games gold.
The five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist beat Northern Ireland's Kristina O'Hara in the 48 kg final with a 5-0 sweep to finish on top of the podium in Gold Coast.
Immediately after the victory, Mary tweeted a message dedicating the victory to her three sons, “I dedicated my Gold Coast Gold Medal to my 3 sons, Rechungvar, Khupneivar & Prince, calling me MAMA when r you coming home”.
Making a comeback to the sport this year after a two year sabbatical, Mary also thanked her coaches and the federation for their help.
Twitterati erupted with joy and congratulated the player on her historic victory.
