However, out-of-favour striker Divock Origi did more than justice to the striker position in the absence of the two Liverpool stalwarts, scoring twice to keep his side alive in the UCL.
As Jürgen Klopp said before the match, anything is possible in football, the Liverpool side made its second consecutive Champions League final.
