Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 63-ball 97 to help Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Friday, April 11.

This was Kolkata’s second straight defeat and Delhi’s fourth win which takes them to fourth on the points table with 8 points.

The unbeaten 97 is also Dhawan’s highest score in the IPL. He bettered his previous best of 95* which he scored against Kings XI Punjab back in 2011. Dhawan and Pant (46) added a 105-run stand which made the task a one-sided affair.

Dhawan, being the senior member of the team, anchored the chase well as he played a matured innings without really taking any chances. He maneuvered the ball in the gap and rotated the strike well with Pant who played the aggressive role in the partnership.

Dhawan’s innings was praised by the cricket experts who praised him for the way he took his team to a win. The left-hander was unlucky to miss out on his first IPL ton with Colin Ingram finishing the chase with a six.
