Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 1 run in the final of IPL 2019 in Hyderabad on Sunday, 12 May as they won the IPL title for the fourth time. Courtesy this win, they have now become the most successful IPL franchisee.

A valiant 80 by Shane Watson was not enough to see Chennai through as veteran Mumbai pacer Lasith Malinga defended 9 runs in the final over to help Mumbai lift their fourth IPL title.

This was after Chennai Super Kings, who started their chase on a positive note, got derailed midway through the innings as they lost key wickets. While Suresh Raina scored just 8. Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni failed to get going with the bat as well. He was run out for just 2 as he tried to sneak a cheeky single in the 13th over.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat. Some good bowling by the CSK bowlers restricted Mumbai to 149/8 with Kieron Pollard top-scoring with an unbeaten 41.
