Twitter Celebrates Virat Kohli Scaling 20,000 International Runs

Indian skipper Virat Kohli during his knock of 72 against West Indies in Manchester, became the quickest batsmen to score 20,000 international runs. In the process, he went past Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara in terms of innings taken to reach the milestone.

He reached the mark in his 417th innings, surpassing the joint-record of Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara (453 each).

Kohli became the 12th batsman to reach this landmark and the third Indian after Tendulkar (34,357 runs) and Rahul Dravid (24,208 runs).

Kohli had scored 82 runs against Australia, 77 against Pakistan and 67 against Afghanistan. With 72 now against the Windies, he has scored his fourth fifty plus score in the World Cup.

The other skippers to attain the feat are Graeme Smith (in 2007) and Aaron Finch (2019).

Meanwhile, Twitter congratulated Virat Kohli for scaling yet another milestone. Here’s what they said.

India scored 268 for 7 with contributions from Kohli (72), MS Dhoni (56), KL Rahul (48) Hardik Pandya (46). Kemar Roach picked three wickets for the Windies.

Windies now need to score 269 runs to keep themselves in the hunt for the semi-finals.
