On 14 June, Google celebrated the start of a month-long FIFA World Cup madness with its first doodle. In the image you can see fans from all over the world gathered around the goalpost and cheering their respective countries. While one of them is seen kicking the ball.

The wait for the football enthusiasts is over. The FIFA World Cup will kickstart today with its first match in the evening. Host nation Russia will take on Saudi Arabia at 8:30 pm IST at Moscow’s Luzhniki. Prior to this, an evening of entertainment is planned for the viewers by the way of an opening ceremony. The grand ceremony will feature Will Smith singing Live It Up, the official anthem for FIFA World Cup 2018. You will also be able to see well-known pop icon Robie William perform live. Along with him, Russian soprano Aida Garifullina will also be seen on stage.

Launched in the year 1930, it is one of the most awaited sporting event in the world. Don’t forget you only get to enjoy it once every four years.

A total of 32 teams will participate in this championship but finally only one will lift the glittering trophy. After today, every day you will be able to enjoy a total of 3 matches. For the next one month these 32 teams will compete in 12 venues in 11 cities around Russia.

Let’s hope Google comes out with more such doodles in the course of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
