India’s biggest medal hope in women’s wrestling at Rio, Vinesh Phogat was eliminated from the competition after she dislocated her knee during the 48kg quarterfinal fight against China’s Sun Yanan.

Seen crying in pain after hurting her knee, Vinesh was forced to concede the match and will not be allowed to compete in repechage even if her victor does make the finals.

Even as the 21-year-old was being stretchered off the arena in tears, Indian fans back home showered their support on her with a deluge of tweets.
