19-year-old Lakshay bagged the 4th medal for India at the 2018 Asian Games as the young shooter bagged the silver in the men’s trap event.

Two Indian men had entered the final round on Monday, but veteran Manavjit Singh Sandhu came in the fourth place as Lakshay finished behind Chinese Taipei’s Kunpi Yang who equalled the world record with 48 points.

Twitter showered praise on the 19-year-old who showed nerves of steel to finish with a final score of 43 in 50 shots.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, himself a 2004 Olympic silver medal winner, congratulated Lakshay on Twitter, lauding his efforts.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted after the victory. The President, via his official account, said: “Our shooters continue to make us proud!”

Virender Sehwag also tweeted on India’s third medal from shooting in the ongoing games:
