Virender Sehwag’s Gemini Arabians thrashed Jacques Kallis’ Libra Legends by 78 runs in the opening game of the Masters Champions League in Dubai on Thursday.

The Masters Champions League features retired players who will play against each other for two weeks in the UAE. There are six teams in the tournament.

Kumar Sangakkara and Richard Levi took on the Legends bowling attack and strung a partnership of 84 runs in nine overs. Levi scored a 43-ball 62 and Sangakkara hammered 86 off the same amount of balls as Levi faced.

While chasing the Arabians’ daunting score of 234/3, the Legends faltered right from the beginning. They lost Kallis with just 15 runs on the board and then kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Netherlands’ Ryan ten Doeschate came in and tried to take control of the match but even his innings of 53 from 37 balls wasn’t enough for the Legends to even get close to the total set by the Arabians.
