Injury-ravaged Rising Pune Supergiants suffered another blow on Sunday after their Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the IPL due to a side strain.
Marsh joined Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis in the list of injured Pune players, who have been forced out of the IPL.
“Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area whilst batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago,” Cricket Australia Sports Science and Sports Medicine Manager Alex Kountouris said in a statement.
Marsh had played only three matches for Supergiants so far, taking four wickets at an economy of 5 runs per over.
The struggling team had brought Australian Usman Khawaja into the team after Pietersen and Du Plessis were ruled out. With Marsh’s injury, Pune now have two empty slots in the line-up.
