Virat’s India Sweep Test Series 3-0

Indian bowlers led by Ravichandran Ashwin showed outstanding perseverance to end South Africa’s resistance and register a thumping 337-run victory in the final Test, winning the four-match series by a historic 3-0 margin.

Needing a mammoth 481 to win, South Africa depended on their ultra-defensive strategy before being bowled out for 143 in 143.1 overs. The last five South African wickets fell for only seven runs.

The 3-0 series win also enabled India to climb upto No 2 in the ICC Test rankings.

R Ashwin picked up figures of 5/61 in the second innings.

2. India Aces Thump UAE Royals in Nadal’s IPTL Debut

Rafael Nadal made a spectacular IPTL debut as defending champions Indian Aces hammered UAE Royals 30-18 for their third straight win in season two of the tournament on Monday.

The second day of IPTL’s Manila leg was all about Nadal, who battled past Tomas Berdych 6-5 via tie-break in the fifth and final set.

The tie began with the mixed doubles. The combination of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna was too much to deal with for Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic, the Aces winning the set 6-4.

The women’s singles saw Sam Stosur face-off with Ana Ivanovic, and even a substitution with Mladenovic did not help the Royals, with Aces winning it convincingly at 6-3.

3. Vijender to Face Experienced Bulgarian Samet Hyuseinov Next

High on confidence after two knockout wins, star Indian boxer Vijender Singh will face his most experienced opponent so far when he fights against Bulgarian Samet Hyuseinov in his third professional bout at the Manchester Arena on December 19.

Vijender won comfortably against his first two professional opponents, beating Sonny Whiting on debut in October and followed that up with a one-round demolition of Dean Gillen in Dublin last month.

The 30-year-old middleweight boxer now takes on Hyuseinov in his quest to become India’s first ever professional world champion and end the year undefeated.
