1. Hales Scores Century as England Record Highest Ever ODI Total
Alex Hales’s stunning century provided the platform for England to post the highest ever one-day international total of 444 for three as they beat Pakistan by 169 runs at Trent Bridge, according to PTI.
Victory in this day/night clash on Tuesday gave England an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series after Pakistan were dismissed for 275 with 44 balls to spare.
England’s total surpassed the previous record of 443 for nine by Sri Lanka against the Netherlands at Amstelveen in 2006.
2. Wayne Rooney to Quit the English Team After 2018 FIFA World Cup
Wayne Rooney will end his England career after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the striker said on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old made his announcement at a news conference ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday when he will set a new record for an England outfield player ahead of David Beckham by winning his 116th cap.
Rooney was reappointed England captain on Monday.

3. Serena, Wawrinka Move to Round 2 of US Open
Serena Williams’ serve was in fine form in a routine first-round win over Ekaterina Makarova at the US Open.
The top-seeded Williams had played just three singles matches since Wimbledon because of a sore right shoulder, but it didn’t show as she hit 12 aces, with only one double-fault, in a 6-3, 6-3 victory Tuesday in 63 minutes, according to AP.
It was a potentially tricky draw for Williams as she opened her bid for a record 23rd major title. Makarova is a two-time Grand Slam semifinalist who just missed a seed.
Two-time grand slam winner Stanislas Wawrinka handed Fernando Verdasco a rare first-round loss at the US Open, sweeping aside the Spaniard in straight sets on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The third-seeded Swiss dominated the left-handed Verdasco with his punishing groundstrokes to claim a measure of revenge with a 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-4 victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Verdasco, ranked 46th, had won 12 of his 13 previous first-round matches at Flushing Meadows.

Venus Williams (US) beat Kateryna Kozlova (Ukraine) 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the first round.

4. Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav Lights Up Rain-Hit Day 2 vs India Blue
In-form chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav led India Red’s fightback with a four-wicket burst to reduce India Blue to 200 for five on another rain-hit day in the Duleep Trophy at Noida on Tuesday, according to PTI.
Gautam Gambhir (77) and Mayank Agarwal (92) missed out on centuries before Yadav’s sublime spell brought the match alive after a chunk of second day’s play was lost due to rain, much like the opening day at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground.
After 34.2 overs on day one, 27.4 overs were possible in the match played with pink ball and under lights.
However, they were enough for a turnaround, with India Blue losing half their side for 95 runs after resuming the day at a comfortable 105 for no loss.
5. Shaun Marsh to Miss Remainder Of the SL Tour Due to Broken Finger
Shaun Marsh will miss the remainder of Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka after the top-order batsman broke a finger while fielding during Sunday’s third One-Day international, the country’s cricket board said.
Australia have not called up a replacement for Marsh in the two remaining One-Dayers, but fellow left-handed batsman Usman Khawaja, already a part of the ODI squad, will come in for the two Twenty20 matches against the same opposition.
