This is India's first semi-final in the men's hockey competition since 1972 Munich Olympics.

Hockey: India beat Great Britain in QF
INDIA HAVE DEFEATED GREAT BRITAIN 3-1 IN THE QUARTER-FINAL AND QUALIFIED FOR THE SEMI-FINAL FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1972 MUNICH GAMES.
INDIA WON THEIR LAST HOCKEY GOLD MEDAL AT THE 1980 OLYMPIC GAMES.

Hockey: India vs Great Britain: QF
Q4: GB have come out all guns blazing against India, who continue to sit deep and hope to keep the attacks out. Sreejesh once again proving vital under the sticks as he stops yet another PC from GB. India lead with half of the final quarter to go. GB however very much in the game.
But with 6 minutes to go, have lost Manpreet to a yellow card after a rash challenge giving GB more than a chance to make a comeback. GB by now were camping in the Indian half.
However with 3 minutes to go, India counter attacked with pace and Hardik Singh hammered it home past the keeper from the top of the D to make it 3-1.

Q3: A couple of early green cards on both sides but India doing well to absorb the pressure and surrounding their attackers with defenders. GB under the pump in the game as India hold steady.
Sreejesh stands tall as GB attack and look to make all the possession count. Top stuff from the Indian legend. India then held on and thwarted 2 consecutive PC's before GB found a way back in the final seconds through Sam Ward on the third PC.
India lead 2-1 and are 15 minutes away from a first semi-final since the 1972 Olympics.

Q2: And while PV Sindhu celebrated a second individual medal at the Olympic games, India's men's hockey team have extended their lead to 2-0 with Gurjant adding a second goal for the team early in the second quarter. It was yet another field goal as India took advantage of a defensive slip up by GB. India go into half time leading 2-0.

PV Sindhu has defeated He Bing Jiao in straight games to win her second Olympic medal after her Silver in Rio. Sindhu won 21-13, 21-15 in 53 minutes.
Sindhu also becomes the fourth woman to win two back to back Olympic medals.

Game 2: After the mid game break, Bing Jiao raised some hopes of a fight back as she chipped away at the lead against Sindhu. However, the Indian held her nerve and injected pace into the game at the right time to open up a 16-13 lead and then stretching it to 18-14.

Q1: India have started off the better of the two sides in a high octane game. And have taken the lead as well with Dilpreet putting India on the score sheet. GB have also failed to convert a PC early on and might live to rue that chance. Some fine goalkeeping by Sreejesh too at the end of the quarter helps keep GB at bay. India lead 1-0.

Game 2: PV Sindhu is one game away from become India's first woman athlete to win two individual Olympic medals after having won Silver in Rio. Sindhu looks far more aggressive and forceful today than in her semi-final and has quickly raced away to a 5-2 lead in the second game.
Bing Jiao hasn't let Sindhu get away though and cut down the lead after a couple of amazing rallies between the two. It's 11-8 at the break again.

Game 1: Sindhu raced away to a 4-1 lead against the southpaw, who also wasted an early challenge. But a couple of lengthy rallies has seen Bing Jiao claw back and cut into the lead in the early minutes before equalising the score at 5-5. Sindhu though managed to edge ahead at the break with the score at 11-8 after 13 minutes.
After the break, Sindhu was out of the blocks quicker, unlike in her S/F yesterday, and controlled the pace of the contest against Bing Jiao, pulling away with a score of 17-11 in quick time. A couple of powerful shots later Sindhu wrapped up the game at 21-13 in 23 minutes.

It's time for the big one! PV Sindhu vs Hi Bing Jiao in the Bronze medal match at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Indian shuttler has a chance to become the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. The Indian and her Chinese opponent have met in 15 matches, with the latter leading 9-6.
It will be followed by the quarter-final match of the Indian men's hockey team against Great Britain at 5:30 PM.
No Jamaican at Men's 100m final
After the women's 100m final saw the 1-2-3 go to Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson, there will be no Jamaican at the Men's final. Remember this is the first time since 2008 that the event will not feature the great Usain Bolt. Jamaican Yohan Blake also failed to qualify for the final after he finished 6th in his semi-final.
No Jamaicans in the men's 100m final is happening for only the second time in 40 years.
In addition to the Indians in action, there are several events scheduled on Sunday evening which will grab eyeballs at Tokyo Olympics.
Badminton: Tai Tzu-Zing will take on Chen Yu Fei in the final of the women's singles badminton event.
Hockey: Belgium will take on Spain in the quarter-final of the men's hockey event. The winner of this match will face the winner of the match between India and Great Britain.
Swimming: Earlier in the day, swimming events at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 came to an end. As expected, Caeleb Dressel won 5 gold medals at the Games while USA won 30 medals, the most among countries.
Badminton: Chen Long defeated Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the semi-final to qualify for his 2nd consecutive Olympic final. He has a chance to emulate legendary shuttler Lin Dan and win 2 consecutive Olympic golds in men’s singles badminton event.
Hockey: Australia and Germany will face in the semi-final of the men's hockey event on Tuesday. Australia won their quarter-final match against the Netherlands after winning the penalty shootout 3-0. The match ended in a 2-2 draw in regular time. On the other hand, Germany knocked out defending champions Argentina with a 3-1 victory.
Badminton: Denmark's Victor Axelsen defeated Guatemala's Kevin Cordon 21-18, 21-11 to book a place in the final of the men's singles event. He will face the winner of the match between Chen Long and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the gold medal match.
Gymnastics: Simone Biles has pulled out of the individual floor exercise final. She is yet to decide regarding her participation in balance beam. The American gymnast had withdrawn from Sunday's vault and uneven bars gymnastics finals citing mental health issues.
Equestrian: Fouaad Mirza is ranked 22nd at the end of the Cross Country round of the Eventing competition. He has 39.20 penalties and will compete in Jumping on Monday.
Golf: India's Anirban Lahiri has dropped 14 places and is tied at the 42nd spot with a score of 4-under 207 while Udayan Mane is at the 56th place in the 60-person field.
Boxing: Satish Kumar has lost his quarter-final bout. Jalolav has been adjudged the winner 5-0 and he qualifies for the semi-final of the men's super heavyweight category.
Boxing: Round 3 ends. Unlike the Indian, Jalolav has waited for his chances and timed his punches perfectly throughout the bout. Satish Kumar is all but eliminated as we wait for the final confirmation.
Boxing: Satish Kumar has lost the first round 5-0. The Indian pugilist has again been aggressive but there haven't been as many clean punches as he would have liked. Jalolov has been adjudged as the winner by all the judges in this 2nd round as well.
Boxing: Satish Kumar's quarter-final match against Bakhodir Jalolov in the men's super heavyweight category begins. Satish is in blue. The winner is assured a medal. Satish is aggressive in his approach but the Uzbek has struck a few punches in this round. The footwork of the both the boxers is solid so far. Round 1 ends.
Indian Men's Hockey Team Lock Horns With Great Britain
The highlight of the day is the Indian men's hockey team as they will clash with Great Britain for a place in the semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics. India stormed into the quarter-final with 4 wins in 5 group stage matches.
Barring the humiliating 7-1 loss against Australia, the Manpreet Singh-led side have been clinical in the tournament so far and will be aiming to win a medal in the sport for the first time since 1980.
PV Sindhu will face He Binjiao of China in the bronze medal match. The Indian shuttler has a chance to become only the second Indian to win 2 Olympic medals. The 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist lost to World No. 1 Tai Tzu-Ying in the semi-finals on Saturday.
This is the 16th meeting between Sindhu and He Bingjiao and the Chinese shuttler has got a 9-6 advantage over the Indian shuttler.
Boxer Satish Kumar will face world champion Bakhodir Jalolov in the men's super heavyweight quarterfinal. The Indian has a chance to assure India of its 3rd medal with a victory over his Uzbek opponent.
