India’s only individual Olympic gold-medallist Abhinav Bindra has been appointed the goodwill ambassador for the contingent for the upcoming Rio Olympics.

Bindra joins a growing list of goodwill ambassadors for the Indian contingent - following Salman Khan’s controversial appointment last week, Sachin Tendulkar and AR Rahman were added to the list earlier today.

Bindra, himself competing at the Rio games, posted a string a Tweets after receiving the letter from the IOA asking him to come on board.

‘I will be writing to every member of the Indian Olympic team & offering them any help they may want,’ Tweeted Bindra commenting on his commitment to the task at hand.
