Karun Nair, who scored a marvellous triple century on day four of the fifth Test against England on Monday, had gone through a traumatic experience in July, earlier this year.

The Karnataka batsman wouldn’t have thought about a Test hundred in the summer, when the snake boat in which he was in and carrying around 100 persons, capsized in river Pampa in Kerala.

Nair, along with several others, managed to escape with help from rescue services.

The boat capsized and immediate rescue services was undertaken and managed to rescue all passengers, while two are still missing.
Official to IANS in July

The people travelling in the boat were taking part in a temple festival, ‘Valla Sadya’, a celebration of the Sree Parthasarathy temple.
