This year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) so far has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride for the teams and the fans alike. The tournament started with a rather dull encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. But since then, we have witnessed many thrilling and dramatic encounters.
Be it Andre Russell’s 13-ball 48 leading Kolkata Knight Riders to an unexpected win against RCB, Rishabh Pant’s heroic knock of 78 off 27 balls that turned that match on its head or Delhi Capitals losing 7 wickets for 8 runs to eventually lose the match against Kings XI Punjab. This season has not been short on the thrill factor.
All the teams have played a minimum of five and maximum of six matches. The tournament is nearing its half-way mark and this is where the teams currently stand.
Kolkata Knight Riders are now placed number one on the table with eight points against their name. . Russel has been phenomenal for them and has been einning games out of nowhere for his team. Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore on the other hand are placed at the bottom of the table having lost all of their six encounters so far. Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad currently occupy the second, third and fourth places respectively.
Mumbai and Delhi have won three encounters each and will be looking for consistency heading into the second phase of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals have lost 4 of their 5 matches and will look to make strong amends going forward.
At the end of the group stage, the top four teams will qualify for the play-offs.
