IPL 2017 Auction Over
That’s it folks, the 2017 IPL player auction is all wrapped up. A total of 66 players were bought on the day with English all-rounder Ben Stokes and pacer Tymal Mills sweeping up a majority of the teams’ spendings.
Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG), who removed Mahendra Singh Dhoni from captaincy on Sunday, bought Stokes for Rs 14.50 crore and owner Sanjeev Goenka said, "This is a conscious strategy, we wanted an all-rounder on the team. Final Session Underway
8 players have been picked for the final session of the IPL 10 auction.
Aksh Deep Nath starts things off. Base price Rs 10 lakh and Gujarat Lions snap him up.
Darren Bravo bought by KKR for his Rs 50 lakh base price
Manoj Tiwary bought by RSP for Rs 50 lakh
David Weise for Rs 30 lakh
Sayan Ghosh bought by KKR for Rs 10 lakh
Kanishk Seth unsold for Rs10 lakh
Lockie Ferguson bought by RPS for Rs 10 lakh
Shubham Agarwal - Rs 10 lakh
Only their 6th buy this auction, Gujarat Lions get Shubham Agarwal for Rs 10 lakh.
Darren Sammy - Rs 30 lakh
The former West Indians skipper is snapped up by KXIP for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Mohammed Siraj - Rs 2.60 crore
Having helped Hyderabad reach the Ranji trophy knockouts in his first full domestic season, Mohammed Siraj was picked up by his local franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.
From a base price of Rs20 lakh, SRH has to fend off RCB’s bidding to finally get their man.
Ishant, Imran and Unmukt Unsold
It was always going to be a tough one, with Ishant Sharma setting himself a base price of Rs 2 crore. The fast bowler goes unsold in the second round of auction as well.
He will not be a part of 2017 IPL, along with Imran Tahir(Rs 50 lakh) and Unmukt Chand(Rs 30 lakh)
Nathan Coulter Nile - Rs 3.50 crore
Starting with a base price of Rs 1 crore, Nile had KKR and SRH showing interest. In the end, the bowler went to KKR for Rs 3.50 crore. Their third-most expensive buy so far.
Jason Roy - Rs 1 Crore
England’s explosive opening batsman Jason Roy is bagged by the Gujarat Lions for Rs 1 crore. He went unsold in the pre-lunch session, but now the Gujarat Lions have surely made the right choice.
Martin Guptill - Rs 50 Lakh
The next round of the IP Lauction 2017 has become and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 50 Lakh
Break for Lunch
Breathe. The first session of the 2017 IPL auction is all over and we’re in for a lunch break till 2 pm.
Teams were asked to list out their preferred players from the list of remaining names and also from the unsold lot, before they left the hall for the break. When the auction returns at 2, only those cricketers go under the hammer.

Varun Aaron - Rs 2.80 crore
Base price Rs 30 lakhs. Fast bowlers seem to be winning this IPL auction, Varun Aaron had a few teams looking to add a pacer in their mix. KXIP and Gujarat Lions emerge the two front-runners.
Bought for Rs 2.80 Crore
Karn Sharma - Rs 3.20 crore
Regularly among the wickets in domestic cricket, Karn Sharma is picked up by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.20 crore.
Chris Woakes - Rs 4.20 crore
The last of the 2 crore base price players, England’s Woakes has SRH and KKR expressing interest in him. Ultimately, it is KKR who manage to pick him up for Rs 4.20 crore
Darren Bravo - Unsold
West Indies’ allrounder Darren Bravo was not taken by any team. Bravo has been out of the West Indies T20 team since 2014.
Cheteshwar Pujara - Unsold
Indian Test opener but Che Pujara finds no takers in the shortest format. Goes unsold despite a base price of Rs 50 lakh
Rashid Khan - Rs 4 crore
Base price Rs 50 lakh and this Afghan leg-break bowler has a few teams going for him.
Sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore.
M Ashwin - Rs 1 crore
Base price of Rs 10 lakh and this uncapped spinner finds a new home in Delhi Daredevils. Played the previous season for Rising Pune Supergiants and this Ashwin has been picked up for Rs 1 crore.
T Natarajan - Rs 3 crore
Virender Sehwag’s KXIP, KKR and Rising Pune Supergiants clearly in the need of a fast bowler.
KKR and Pune exit but there’s a new bidder in the mix - Sunrisers Hyderabad. But they’re out at Rs 3 crore.
Sold - KXIP buy the bowler for Rs 3 crore.
Aniket Choudhary - Rs 2 crore
Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore are competing for this former Kings XI Punjab player.
Base price was Rs 10 lakh but we’re up to 2 crore and Gujarat Lions exit the bid.
RCB have themselves a new bowler. Aniket goes for 20 times of his base price.
Mumbai's Gowtham Pick
Krishnappa Gowtham played his first first-class match in three years when he took the field for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy last summer. Didn't take him much time though to get back among the wickets. He ended the season as the team’s highest wicket-taker with 18 scalps in three matches.
No wonder then that Mumbai Indians went all out for him. Bought for Rs 2 crore from his base price of Rs 10 lakh.
Mohammad Nabi - Rs 30 lakh
Afghanistan’s cricket captain becomes the first player from the country who will feature in the Indian Premier League.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s second buy of the day, for Rs 30 lakh. SRH have spent only Rs 40 lakh today.

Ishant Sharma - Unsold
With a base price of Rs 2 crore, Ishant Sharma was going to find it difficult to find a buyer this season. He played for Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL 9 but with little to no limited-overs performances that count in the last year, the Delhi fast bowler will have to wait till the end of the day to see if he finds takers in the second session.
IPL Wrap so Far
Tymal Mills - Royal Challengers Bangalore
Base price Rs 50 lakh.
After Mitchell Starc’s exit from the team on Sunday, Royal Challengers needed a solid fast bowler in their team. There were murmurs about Mills being a top pick of this auction and the two pieces of the puzzle fit perfectly.
KKR though did ensure RCB were made to work hard for the player. From just Rs 50 lakh, it went right up to Rs 11.50 crore for KKR but with RCB raising their paddle for Rs 12 crore - that would be the last bid of the season for Tymal.
Trent Boult - KKR
Base price Rs 1.5 crore.
This was going to be the auction of the bowlers and this set of players have finally got the teams bidding at a furious rate now.
Boult becomes KKR’s first big buy of the auction - bought for a massive Rs 5 crore.
Kagiso Rabada - Delhi Daredevils
Base price Rs 1 crore
The fast bowlers are up now and Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab get their bidding paddles busy for the South African.
Sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 5 crore.
Nicholas Pooran - Mumbai Indians
A relatively unknown player, West Indian wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran is picked up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakh. A lot of smiles on that table after picking the player for his base price. A look at his history and you’d know why - the 21-year-old has a strike rate of 143.29 in T20s.
Jonny Bairstow - Unsold
Base price Rs 1.5 crore but looks like his English team-mate has given all teams a reality check. The keeper/batsman goes unsold.

Base price Rs 50 lakh but this ageing Indian all-rounder finds no takers.
There will be a second round of auction later in the day for the unsold players.
Angelo Mathews - Delhi Daredevils
Base price Rs 2 crore and Delhi Daredevils claim this Sri Lankan all-rounder with their first buy of the auction.
Pawan Negi - RCB
Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions giving us our first ‘bidding war’ of the 2017 IPL auction. Pawan Negi the player they are vying for from his base price of Rs 30 lakhs.
At 55 lakhs, RCB enter the bidding and make it 60.
At 80 lakh, Sunrisers Hyderabad enter the party for this former Delhi Daredevils bowler.

Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Ross Taylor - Unsold
The English are coming to the IPL this season but there seem to be no takers for Jason Roy or Alex Hales or even Ross Taylor
Marked at a base price of Rs 1,00,00,000, Roy goes unsold. Taylor at Rs 50,00,000 unsold and at Rs 1,00,00,000 even Alex Hales. Unsold.
Eoin Morgan - KXIP
Eoin Morgan, the one English regular in the previous IPLs, doesn't find many takers. Picked up by the Kings XI Punjab for his base price of Rs 2 crores
Martin Guptill - Unsold
The first player to go under the hammer, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill remains unsold.
His base price was Rs 50,00,000
IPL Auction 2017
The IPL auction for the tenth season of the tournament is set to begin in a few minutes! Most of the star Indian players are well settled in their respective teams, therefore this auction is going to be all about the foreign players.
Although big guns like Kevin Pietersen and Mitchell Starc have pulled out of this season due to a busy domestic and international schedule, players like England’s Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes and Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews will be the players to watch out for in this year’s auction.
And also the Rising Pune Supergiants took a big decision on Sunday, to sack MS Dhoni as their captain and appoint Steve Smith as the leader of the side. Although Dhoni will continue to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the side.
