The Indian women’s cricket team was knocked out of the World Twenty20 tournament in Mohali on Sunday. West Indies beat their Indian counterparts in a closely fought encounter, finally winning it by a mere three runs.
Replying to West Indies’ 114 runs, India made a mess of the chase, managing 111 for nine. This is India’s third defeat in a row.
West Indian Deandra Dottin was the star of the match, smashing 45 runs off 40 balls. She went on to scalp three Indian batswomen at a crucial time.
After winning the toss, India sent the Windies in to bat first. Bowlers put India on the top, with spinners Ekta Bisht and Anuja Patil sharing four of the eight scalps.
The batswomen failed to rise to the occasion and eventually fell short by 3 runs.
