Iranian fullback, Milad Mohammadi found himself in a tough spot when trying to perform a flip-throw which failed right after his execution and held Iran from a priceless equaliser against Spain.

Iran and Spain were in action against each other at the Kazan Arena on Wednesday night, which saw Iran chasing an equaliser for most of the second half after Diego Costa's netted the ball in the 54th minute for the ‘La Roja’, scoring his third goal of the tournament in the process.

In this viral video, Mohammad kisses the ball, takes a step back and accentuates with a fancy flip-throw to toss the ball, which messed up his execution and led him to fall on his knees and obviously he failed to throw the ball out. The only solace was to return back and throw the ball in the traditional way

After losing their glorious chance to equalise against the Spanish team, the Iranian defender became a Twitter sensation.

The 24-year-old full-back, who has appeared 20 times for his country, ended up costing his team a valuable 30 seconds in the dying stages of the game.

Iran’s equaliser would’ve boosted the team’s chances of qualification from Group B but now they sit in the third position with three points behind Portugal and Spain who have four points each.

Iran face Portugal on Monday.
