Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has been signed up by Kerala Blasters as their marquee player ahead of the 2017-18 season of Indian Super League, the club announced on Wednesday.

Former Bulgarian international Berbatov, 36, will pair up with his former United teammate Wes Brown in the team co-owned by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Announcing the arrival of Berbatov, Blasters tweeted from their official handle, “Golden touch, turns like a dream & a deadly finish. The Bulgarian Hitman is set to take ISL by storm”.

The 36-year old will join the Kerala side on a one year contract after becoming a free agent since leaving the Greek side PAOK Salonika a year ago.

Bulgaria’s all-time leading scorer with 48 goals from 79 matches, Berbatov made a name for himself in European football during his stint with Bayer Leverkusen during the early years of the millennium.

He had joined United from Tottenham for a then club- record fee of 30 million pounds (USD 39 million) and won two Premier League titles with the English side.
