India’s star sprinter Dutee Chand, who is embroiled in a gender case, clinched the bronze medal in the 100m event at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Chand recorded a timing of 11.52 seconds, while Kazakhstan’s Viktoriya Zyabkin and Olga Safronova took the gold and silver medals with a timing of 11.39 seconds and 11.45 seconds respectively.
Dutee had qualified for the final round of women's 100m dash after finishing second in the semi-finals (heat two) with a timing of 11.56 seconds while another Odisha athlete Amiya Kumar Mallick was disqualified after a false start in men's 100m sprint.
India bagged four gold medals on day two of the Asian Athletics Championships.
