CWG 2018: Gymnast Yogeshwar Singh Disappoints in All Around Final

Yogeshwar had a good start with the rings & soon gained good lead in the vault event to climb to the fifth position.

India’s Yogeshwar Singh finished a disappointing 14th at the Gymnastics All Around final with a total of 75.600 points after six events at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on Saturday.

The 20-year old gymnast from Haryana scored 12.250 in Pommel Horse in the final event. Earlier, he had scored 11.400 in floor exercise, 12.600 in rings, 14.100 in vault, 13.000 in parallel bars and 12.250 in horizontal bars.

It was a good start from him in the rings, after which he gained a good lead in the vault event to climb to fifth position.But then he could not muster up the remaining challenges and continued to slip down the rankings. Yogeshwar had a fall during the floor exercise and if he did not have it he could have finished a few positions above the 14th.

England's Nile Wilson clinched the gold with a total of 84.950 while another Englishman James Hall took silver, with a total of 83.975. Cyprus’ Marios Georgiou settled for the bronze after ending with 83.750.

Another Indian, Rakesh Patra will be seen in action in men’s rings finals on Sunday.
