He may be a doubtful starter for the opening match of the Indian Premier League, but that hasn’t kept Virat Kohli from joining the Royal Challengers team in Bengaluru, ahead of the opening ceremony on 4 April.

The Indian skipper, who was forced to sit out of the Dharamsala Test against Australia due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Ranchi, will have his medical reassessment in the second week of April. Only then will the medical team decide when Kohli can start playing.

AB de Villiers, who was named RCB’s captain in Kohli’s absence, has reportedly also suffered an injury. The South African batsman, who was supposed to play for Titans in the Momentum One Day Cup final on Friday, was ruled out of the match due to a back injury.

However, de Villiers too joined the team in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore play the opening match of the tenth edition of the IPL against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad on 5 April.
