Indian captain Virat Kohli walked into bat in the second ODI against Australia in Nagpur at 1/0 after Rohit Sharma was caught off Cummins in the final delivery of the first over of the match.

The Indian skipper then collaborated with fellow Delhi cricketer Shikhar Dhawan to add 38 runs and then added 37 runs for the third wicket with Ambati Rayudu.

However, it was his partnership with Vijay Shankar that really helped steady India’s innings as the two batted together for over 12 overs and took the total from 75/3 to 156/4. During their stand, Virat also reached a personal milestone, scoring a half century off 55 deliveries. It was also his career’s 50th one-day fifty.

Virat is the seventh Indian cricketer to score 50 half centuries with Sachin Tendulkar leading the table with 96 fifties in his career. Former skipper MS Dhoni is also part of the list, placed fourth with 71 half centuries.
