Rs 2 Cr Salary Hike For Ravi Shastri in the New Contract: Reports
Shastri was drawing close to Rs 8 crore but with the hike now his annual package will be around Rs 10 crore.
If reports are to be believed, Ravi Shastri will be getting a hike of 20 per cent in his annual CTC after his new contract as the Indian men's cricket team head coach comes into effect.
According to a report published in the Mumbai Mirror earlier this week, the former India all-rounder will now earn around Rs 10 crore annually.
The report also had a mention regarding the hiked salaries of other members of the support staff. Bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar reportedly will be getting Rs 3.5 crore each, while Team India’s new batting coach Vikram Rathour will get an annual salary between Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 3 crore.
Last month, Ravi Shastri was reappointed as Team India head coach for a period of two years. Along with Shastri, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar were also retained. The new contracts would come into effect from September 1 and will be ending with the 2021 T20 World Cup in India.
Shastri pipped former India teammates Robin Singh and Lalchand Rajput along with former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson and Australian Tom Moody to the post. Former West Indies and Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons pulled out of the race, citing personal reasons.
This will be Shastri's fourth stint with the national team, having served briefly as the Cricket Manager (2007 tour of Bangladesh), Team Director (2014-2016) and head coach (2017-2019).
Under Shastri, India went on to become the number one ranked team in the ICC Test rankings and performed exceptionally well in the 2019 World Cup, losing just two games out of the nine matches they played.
Also, India's first Test series win in Australia too came under Ravi Shastri's term as head coach of the team.
