CSK Home Matches Moved to Pune: Fans Express Discontent on Twitter

CSK will be asked to move their home matches to Pune citing security concerns for the players and the fans.

As fans expressed discontent, their support for the team has not shaken up even a little bit.

All the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) home matches of Chennai Super Kings will be shifted out of Chennai to Pune in the wake of Tuesday's violence over the Cauvery waters dispute.

CSK will be asked to move their home matches to Pune as the Chennai police has expressed their inability to to provide adequate security for the remaining matches.

Earlier, talking to IANS on the phone, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Chief Executive Officer KS Viswanathan said: "We talked to the Chennai's Commissioner of Police over the issue. He suggested we shift the matches as the situation is volatile in the city."

We have put the ball in BCCI’s court and the board will now take a call on the issue.

Various Tamil groups had demanded that the authorities cancel all IPL matches in Chennai until the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) as mandated by the Supreme Court are set up by the Central government.

Given the comeback of Chennai Super Kings after facing a two-year ban, this is a major setback for Chennai fans. With the kind of jubilant atmosphere witnessed in their only home game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, it seemed that matches in Chennai would be the ones to look out for – but the BCCI and IPL have given in to the protestors, citing security concerns for players and fans.
