With 19 votes to 14, senior Congress leader CP Joshi won the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president election on Friday. Joshi, who has held the post in the past, beat former RCA president Lalit Modi’s son Ruchir Modi to bag the top spot.
The voting process was completed on 29 May, and the sealed ballot boxes were kept in the government treasury till the high court directed the results to be announced on 2 June.
The election was originally scheduled to be held on 26 April, but was stalled late on 22 April night by RCA Secretary Sumendra Tiwari, as it was believed that Joshi faction was in majority.
The 33 district cricket associations, who have voting rights in accord with the Sports Act prevailing in the state, voted for the six posts as per the Lodha Committee recommendations.
Details awaited.
