It looks like Chris Lynn has decided to let his bat do the talking. Days after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders from their roster, the Australian cricketer made history in the Abu Dhabi T10 League by slamming the highest score in the format.

Playing against Team Abu Dhabi for Maratha Warriors, Lynn smashed 91 runs off 30 deliveries to overtake Alex Hales’ score of 87 not out off 32 balls. Hales was also playing for the Maratha Arabians when he achieved the feat last season.

Lynn took the Abu Dhabi bowlers to the cleaners, hitting 9 fours and 7 sixes en route his record-breaking score.

Batting first, Maratha Arabians finished with 138/2 in their 10 overs, courtesy Lynn’s impressive batting. Team Abu Dhabi never looked to be in the chase though they had wickets in hand. The home side finished with 114/3 in the end to lose by 24 runs.

With this win, Maratha Arabians qualified for the Super League stage of the competition.

Ahead the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on 19 December, Kolkata Knight Riders released 13 players from their squad, which included Lynn also. The Australian was roped in the Kolkata franchisee in 2012. Lynn scored 405 runs from 13 matches at an average of 31.15 and strike rate around 140. He also had 4 fifties to his name last season.

In this edition of the T10 League, Lynn wasn’t having a good run till tonight. His previous two scores were 4 and 20.

Meanwhile, Maratha Arabians have had mixed luck in the tournament till now. After losing their first match against Northern Warriors, they demolished Qalanders to make a comeback in the tournament.
