To counter India in spin-friendly conditions in the upcoming Test series, Cricket Australia has hired former India spinner Sriram Sridharan as spin consultant.
Sridharan, who played eight ODIs for India between March 2000 to December 2004, had assisted the Australian team on the Sri Lanka tour and during the World Twenty20 in India last year.
The 40-year-old Sridharan, who claimed nine ODI wickets with his left-arm spin in his career, is excited for the four-Test series, beginning 23 February at Pune.
Cricket Australia have also hired former England spinner Monty Panesar as a spin counsultant. Panesar will be working with the Australian spinners Stephen O'Keefe and Matt Renshaw ahead of Australia’s tour of India.
Panesar, who is currently playing grade cricket for Campbelltown in Sydney, will go to the Centre of Excellence this week to assist the Australian team.
Australia were thrashed 4-0 in India four years ago and also lost 3-0 to Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series in 2016.
Therefore, Pat Howard certainly wants to make things right when Australia tour India in February.
