The Indian contingent for kurash at this year's Asian Games went into the pre-quarterfinals with four players. However, to their disappointment, all four were eliminated on Thursday, 30 August.
India's Danish Sharma, Jyoti Tokas, Amisha Tokas and Divesh were the four players left in the fray.
He had defeated Indonesia's Muhammad Alfais 3-0 in the men's 90 kg category during the pre-quarters. He had beaten Muhammad Dhifa Alfais of Indonesia 3-0 in the Round of 32 match in the men’s 90kg category to advance to the pre-quarters.
Divesh, on the other hand lost 0-10 to Yakhyo Imamov of Uzbekistan in his men's 90kg Round of 16 bout.
Jyoti had trumped Thailand's Prawanwit Meesri 1-0 in the women's 78kg category to proceed to the pre-quarters. However, both Jyoti and Amisha Tokas’ campaigns in the women’s 78kg event also came to an end during the pre-quarters.
15-year-old Jyoti lost 0-10 to Turkmenistan’s Mariya Lohova, while 17-year-old Amisha suffered a 0-5 defeat against Nguyen Thi Lan of Vietnam.
With this, all four Indians participating in various kurash events on the day have been knocked out.
India has won two medals at this year’s events, with Pincky Balhara winning the silver medal and Malaprabha Yallappa Jadhav settling for a bronze.
