Jinson Johnson Finds Redemption in 1500m, Wins Gold for India

After settling for silver in the 800m event at the 18th Asian Games, Jinson Johnson on Thursday, 30 August, found redemption by clinching gold in the 1500m event.

Johnson won the race comfortably with a timing of 3:44.72 minutes to best Manjit Singh, who had won gold in the 800m event.

Twitter applauded Johnson on his second medal at the Asiad.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh and MP Rajyavardan Rathore took to Twitter to congratulate the winners.

After the Indian men’s hockey team lost to Malaysia in the semi-finals, Johnson’s medal brought relief to the Indian fans, in what was a bittersweet day at the Asiad.
