Apurvi Chandela is Now World’s Number One 10m Air Rifle Shooter

Indian 10 metre air rifle shooter Apurvi Chandela, on Wednesday 1 May secured the world number one position in her discipline.

The decorated Indian shooter had, in February, shot a world record score of 252.9 points to clinch the gold medal at the International Shooting World Cup this year, after her bronze at the Asian Games last year at the 10m Mixed Rifle event.

Chandela took to twitter to make the announcement, saying that she has touched a new milestone in her career with this ranking.

Chandela is the among the first six Indian shooters to be named in the Tokyo Olympics squad.
