10-year-old Wins Shiv Kapur’s Tournament of Champions in Bulgaria
Indian golfer Shiv Kapur turned host for the week as players gathered for the Tournament of Champions in Bulgaria.

Shiv Kapur can no longer just be referred to as an Indian golfer.
Though it may be the one identity he has worked the hardest at earning, the 33-year-old has over the last few years found a solid footing in the business of golf as well.
After hosting the ‘Golf Premier League’ at Pune’s Amby Valley in 2013, Kapur returned with the ‘Tournament of Champions’ this year. However, tired of the red tape and the broken promises of the Indian Government, the Delhi golfer hosted his new event on the scenic shores of Varna, Bulgaria last week.
Played on two separate courses– the Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort and the Thracian Cliffs Golf Resort– the two-round invitational event saw participation not only from local enthusiasts, but Indian golfers as well, who had flown all the way to play alongside Shiv.
However, that wasnt all. There were also a sprinkling of holidayers who caught the golf bug on hearing of the event.
Among those catching the sights of the city was young Samuel Alexander Brown’s family. Having travelled from Cyprus to celebrate his grandfather’s birthday, Brown heard of the European Tour regular hosting a tournament and forced his parents to extend their stay.
And for good reason.
The 10-year-old scored 42 points in the two rounds of the event to finish with a total of 84, enough to win the title in his category, beating ‘veteran amateurs’ on the way.
Having picked up tips from Kapur on his way to the victory, the young Rory McIlroy fan now has his eyes set on the European Tour and beyond.
“I want to be the best golfer in history,” he says before running off to join his waiting family at home.
