Air Hostess Alleges Rape by Friend & His Roommates, One Arrested
The arrested accused confessed to the crime but denied the involvement of his room-mates.
A 25-year-old air hostess working with a private airline was allegedly raped by her colleague and his roommates in Mumbai’s suburban Andheri, police said on Wednesday, 5 June.
The incident took place on the night of 4 June, at a flat in Goni Nagar where Swapnil Badodia (25), the woman's colleague , lived as a paying guest, a police official said.
What Happened?
According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday, when the complainant arrived in Mumbai from Hyderabad. She met Badodia, who works in the security department of the same airline at the airport. They traveled together, till Malad where she dropped him off at a mall, reported Indian Express.
She later met Badodia at the mall again after dropping off her luggage and the two then went to a bar.
Badodia claims that she was heavily intoxicated and decided to not send her home alone and finally took her to his apartment which he shared with two other men.
Action Taken By Police
The survivor then lodged a complaint of gang rape at MIDC police station.
"We registered a case of gang rape under IPC section 376 D and arrested the accused person (Badodia)," said Nitin Alaknure, senior police inspector, MIDC police station.
Badodia confessed to the crime but denied the involvement of his room-mates, another police officer claimed.
He was produced before a court which sent him in police custody till 6 June. Further probe is on.
