Amid tense India-Pakistan relations, India’s longstanding demand for the Kartarpur Corridor has been realised, with Pakistan coming on board after 70 years. The corridor will connect two historically important gurudwaras on either side of the Indo-Pak border – Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara in Gurdaspur district in India and Darbar Sahib Gurudwara in Narowal district in Pakistan.
Pakistan’s ‘olive branch’, against the backdrop of the landmark 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, is said to facilitate friendlier relations with India. So, is this all Pakistan’s ‘magnanimity’ or is it a diplomatic coup, courtesy of the Modi government?
