For many, this was the first opportunity to speak to their family back home in months.

Today, we hear voices from the Valley of those who had been longing for a call, a message or just as much as a word from their loved ones.

This is a special edition of The Big Story. At noon on 14 October, 40 lakh postpaid connections became active, while another 30 lakh are yet to be restored. With this move, came a flood of emotional phone calls.
