‘I Can Hear You’: 2 Months After J&K Lockdown, Postpaid Lines Open

Kashmir was ensconced in silence for over 70 days. Communication was blocked in the Valley – phone lines shut, Internet services down.
After a long wait, postpaid mobile connections were restored on 14 October.
For many, this was the first opportunity to speak to their family back home in months.

This is a special edition of The Big Story. At noon on 14 October, 40 lakh postpaid connections became active, while another 30 lakh are yet to be restored. With this move, came a flood of emotional phone calls.
